Indoor Gardening- Introduction
Setting up and indoor garden can be time consuming and frustrating,
especially if it is your first time gardening indoors. A well laid out
plan will ensure the garden is not being set up haphazardly. The "setting
up steps bulletins" will outline the major factors affecting plant growth:
Light, temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide, pH, nutrients and water. All
these factors must be kept in check to have viable plant growth. Your plants
will only grow as fast as the least maintained factor.
The first things to consider are the size and type of
plants you want to grow and how many. This will determine the size of the
growroom and help you select an appropriate garden system.
Next, ensure there are proper electrical connections
to provide sufficient amperage required by lighting and other equipment.
It is a good idea to run HID lights on a separate circuit and run other
equipment on another circuit. All connections and alterations to your wiring
should be made by a qualified electrician.
The growroom should be in a location where venting can
be accommodated. The floor should be bare(no carpeting) and walls should
be clean. A clean growroom reduces chances of disease and insect infestation.
Growrooms with a ceiling less than 7 feet are not recommended.
Low ceilings make it uncomfortable for the grower and plants can become
crowded.
The key to a good, basic setup is to consider the most
influential factors affecting plant growth, light and air. These
two factors are critical for creating an indoor growing environment that
duplicates an outdoor growing environment.
If at any step of the garden setup you are unsure about
something then call a local indoor garden retailer or email.
